People looking to sell, lease, buy or rent office space in Yorkshire and Humber  can all benefit from ict active.

ict active is the national standard for the provision of Information Communications Technology (ICT) in office buildings.

It surveys both the infrastructure and services provided by a building and is designed to promote office spaces that have a high quality ICT offering. ict active is based on a British Standards Institute Publicly Available Specification (PAS 700) published in Spring 2009.

There are three levels of being ict active: registered, accredited and Leading Edge or Excellent, applying to both Ready to Occupy and Part Fitted properties.

• Ready to Occupy means that the office space is ready for a tenant to move in and begin using ICT equipment immediately. This includes the availability of a telephone service and internet connection for each user in the office space and the provision of some form of technical support for these services.
• Part Fitted means that the office space available requires further fitting-out before it is ready to occupy. For example, it may need internal cabling or electricity points to be installed in the office space before ICT equipment can be used. In addition, tenants usually have to make their own arrangements for telephone and Internet services.
• Leading Edge is reserved for Ready to Occupy buildings with the high end ICT infrastructure in place. Leading Edge properties have all the features and facilities found in standard ict active recognised buildings but also offer valuable extended and high-specification facilities or services.
• ict active Excellent applies to Part Fitted premises which, in addition to complying with all the requirements for a part fitted building, meet some of the infrastructure requirements of a ready to occupy building. In particular, the Excellent level indicates the availability of electricity supply and telecommunications cabling in the office space as well as to the building.

Currently, ict active covers office space in Yorkshire. However, the scheme is also offered to office space outside of the region.
